Ghana is the land of the Black Stars. In the local Akan language, the word “nsoromma” translates literally as "child of the heavens" but is used (only slightly) more prosaically to mean "star". In East London these days, we now have our own Anglicised version: “Sruma”, the nom de plume of Orient’s own vegan, cat-loving, anti-racist cult hero Sean Clare.

In spite of being transfer listed at the start of the summer, Clare survived the brutal squad cull, and having recently celebrated his 30th birthday with his first international call-up (and first international goal), he is having a bit of a moment.
