Jollies in the Spanish sunshine are over, warmups against 7th tier opposition are just about done, and Leyton Orient are now entering into the meat of their preseason schedule.
On Saturday, July 25th, the O’s faced National League Southend United, rekindling what I’m told is a not-quite-storied, but still passionate rivalry. This would be my first chance to see how Orient are shaping up for the season, plus an opportunity to experience the A13 derby, even if a preseason variant. It was also a nice excuse to spend the afternoon before the game out at the Blackpool-lite Southend seashore.
Sage football observers will tell you not to read too much into preseason results. Let's do it anyway.
