The road up to Waltham Abbey's bucolic Capershotts ground is lined with tatty, dishevelled Union flags, and the traveller is also reminded that the town is the final resting place of the last Saxon King of England. With the hosts having just spent £20,000 on a new pitch, you can understand why our manager was purring about the benefits of playing here just a few days before the real business begins -- especially as the Os have been unable to use their own training ground in the build-up to this season.
