Mature Beyond Their Years Barnsley Breeze Past Orient

A young but confident Barnsley side proved too strong for Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road, running out deserved 1-3 winners. Goals from Kirk, McGeehan and the impressive Cleary put the visitors in control, before Oyekunle grabbed his first senior goal late on to provide a small positive for the Os.

Leyton Orient welcomed Barnsley to Brisbane Road this afternoon for the latest chapter in what has become a familiar League One fixture, with the two sides now sharing the same division for a fourth consecutive season.

There have been some memorable battles along the way -- none more so for the O’s than their dramatic 4-3 comeback victory in E10 in April 2025, when Orient came from behind to claim all three points in a seven-goal thriller. That victory proved particularly important in building momentum towards the play-offs.

The Barnsley win formed part of a remarkable run which saw the O’s win their final six games of the 2024/25 season, securing their place in the League One play-offs.
