Life on the Road: Essential Reading
21.10.26, 18:26 Updated 21.10.26, 18:56
Strengths
Transitions - Reading leaves both wingers high when they defend, which is probably why they have scored the most goals from transitions in the league! This can work in one of two ways: offensively, this gives them 3 v 3 scenarios a lot of the time, depending on the other team's systems, but defensively it can create a 1v1 full-back vs winger if we were to move the ball quickly or if the wing-back can get on the overlap, then a 2v1.
This can cause issues, however, if we were to lose the ball in the final third; Lisbie possesses great pace and the ability to run in behind; Marriott (although doubtful for this game), is one of the best penalty box strikers at this level, and Paddy Lane also offers great League One Pedigree and has also played at a higher level. Join this with Jamie Reid or Jacob Brown, one of whom will likely play this evening, and it is a very experienced, physical and front line full of depth.
