Reading edge Orient as Lane strike settles tight contest

Reading edged Leyton Orient 1-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium as Paddy Lane’s superb second-half strike proved the difference. The O’s had chances through Dane Scarlett and Aaron Connolly, while Nathan Baxter saved a penalty, but Orient struggled to create enough after the break and left Berkshire empty-handed.

The mighty O’s are back in Sky Bet League One action tonight as they take on Reading, looking to build on Saturday’s impressive 2-0 home victory over Blackpool.

Following last night’s results, Orient head into the game sitting 12th in the table, just one point behind eighth-placed Reading.

Victory this evening would see the O’s leapfrog their opponents and keep Richie Wellens’ side firmly in and around the play-off picture.

Orient look set to continue with the three-at-the-back system that worked so well against Blackpool on Saturday, lining up in what should be a 3-4-3.
